Chris Twomey Stolen GOods

Fall 2012

Stolen Goods derives from suspended “still life” compositions of various objects of various dimensions, culled from the environment urban and rural, synthetic and organic, with accompanying drawings and paintings and a DVD. These inventive and dramatic juxtapositions generate thoughts about identity, memory and meaning as seen through the objects we surround ourselves with in daily life. These objects are now gone; stolen, discarded, or lost. They are resurrected from absence by their use in this work.

The use of varied mediums in the 2d paintings, drawings, and photographs, express a struggle to capture some essence of what is no longer with us. Through these objects, the viewer’s own memories of childhood, adulthood, and life events are evoked.
